Monster Truck Throwdown - Berlin Raceway 2017

One of the premier stops of the Monster Truck Throwdown tour annually is when we visit the Berlin Raceway and Entertainment Complex in Marne, Michigan. This year is certainly no exception as the tour returns with eight of the industry’s top monster trucks alongside thrilling freestyle motocross action and an epic fireworks display that is one of the largest in the state of Michigan.

Since 2014 the Monster Truck Throwdown tour has been building and growing this event in partnership with the fine folks at Berlin Raceway. In just a few years the event has become a must see spectacle for monster truck fans and Berlin Raceway regulars alike. The field of trucks this year is a top notch group ready to battle it out in front of a packed house on Saturday night.

The field sees some familiar names and faces with every truck having performed in this event before. The granddaddy of all monster trucks, Bigfoot, returns for the second time with last year’s racing winner Darren Schnell behind the wheel once again. Who could forget the absolutely insane air Schnell and Bigfoot were getting last year in the racing competition? You can bet they’ll be looking to defend their racing title when they return this weekend.

Avenger - Monster Truck Throwdown - Berlin RacewayJim Koehler and the Avenger are celebrating their 20th anniversary in 2017 and what better way to celebrate than a huge show in your home state? Last year the Michigan native attempted a backflip on the rain soaked ramp last year and this year they’re looking to pull off an even bigger and better backflip with better weather conditions. Not only is Koehler attempting a backflip again this year, he’ll be defending last year’s freestyle victory too.

Over Bored - Monster Truck Throwdown - Berlin RacewayJamey Garner and Over Bored are back for the fourth year in a row at Berlin Raceway. Garner’s had plenty of success at the speedway with final round racing appearance, a freestyle victory in 2015, and he was the winner of the donut competition in last year’s event. The massive Chevy Silverado from Indiana is one of the strongest pieces on the circuit and Garner will have his sights set on putting together some wins when he gets to Berlin Raceway.

The Virginia Beach based team Monster Trucks Unlimited bring the dynamic duo of Stone Crusher and Hooked back to Berlin Raceway for the first time since 2014. The trucks were dominant on that night with Steve Sims and Stone Crusher taking the racing victory, while Hooked picked up the freestyle win. Their last Monster Truck Throwdown appearance was equally impressive as Bryan Wright picked up a racing and freestyle win last year in Benson, North Carolina, while Sims also picked up a freestyle win. These two drivers only know how to drive their trucks 110% and are sure to put on a show.

Brutus - Monster Truck Throwdown - Berlin RacewayAnother Michigan native, Brad Allen, will be piloting his behemoth of a dog named Brutus. Allen is a teammate to Jim Koehler and Avenger, and when you’re teamed up with a 2-time Freestyle Champion you tend to learn a few things about getting wild. In Allen’s most recent Monster Truck Throwdown appearance he picked up a huge freestyle win in Edmonton.

Reckless Drivin - Monster Truck Throwdown - Berlin RacewayLast but certainly not least is the hometown hero, Jeremy Hosman and Reckless Drivin. The local boy and his awesome square body Chevy are back once again to defend their wheelie contest victory from 2016.
