Monster Truck Throwdown

2016 saw some incredible action on the Monster Truck Throwdown Tour as screaming fans of all ages were brought to their feet, across the United States and Canada.   With over 24 performances at 16 different venues, monster truck superstars like Avenger, Crushstation, Over Bored, Brutus, Scarlet Bandit, Bounty Hunter, and Stone Crusher took to the track with thrilling performances.

Crushstation - Monster Truck Throwdown(Greg Winchenbach crosses the line just ahead of Derick Anson and Heavy Hitter)

The action started July 4th at the benchmark location of the Monster Truck Throwdown Tour – the Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. For the 7th consecutive year, a record breaking crowd would see ten of the sport’s top independent names take on one of the most unique and largest outdoor tracks. The championship round of racing would come down to Throwdown newcomer, Derick Anson in Heavy Hitter pitted against tour favorite, Greg Winchenbach in Crushstation. With a $3,000 cash bonus on the line, Winchenbach would sail across the North Star Ranch Finish line, nearly upside-down, mere feet ahead of Anson in an amazing finish. Freestyle would see huge performances from Cory Rummell in Rage and Devin Jones in Barbarian. But in the end, it would be 2-Time World Freestyle Champion, Jim Koehler, living up to his name and piloting Avenger to its 5th Freestyle Championship in Mt. Pleasant and the coveted $3,000 cash prize.
